Chapter Twelve

I had had such a good day out and the exhibition was fantastic; having Cai there to talk to about the paintings was the icing on the cake. He was a great person to be around, so easy-going and he had such a wicked sense of humour! He brought a whole new dimension to my people-watching habit, as he told funny stories about the people walking by. He even pretended to hear what they were saying and told me; there was no way what he said was true, but I’d never laughed so hard in my life. We had talked about Luc, Cai allayed some of my fears. I felt completely refreshed and energised by the time we arrived back at the bar after collecting my suitcase and checking out of the B&B.

We were running late when we walked into the bar; the VIP area was crowded but I saw Luc immediately, even though he had his back to me. Even from the back he looked amazing, dressed all in black, with his wide shoulders and perfect backside. Nice!

I saw a girl, dressed in the same way, wave at him and he waved back; jealously stabbed me in the heart. Then he turned, as if he knew I was there, and came to me so quickly my breath caught. He kissed me and I forgot everything else existed. When he eventually put me back on my feet, there was no place I wanted to be than right there in his arms. It was hard to say goodbye, even though he was going to get Marcus. Our final kiss before he left made me giddy and light-headed as I searched amongst the crowd for Cai. Being short is really not all it’s cracked up to be!

I finally found Cai, leaning against the bar talking to Dion and the stunning blonde woman I saw yesterday wearing the leather. She wore a similar outfit today, but in red instead of black. I looked down at my t-shirt and jeans. I am so underdressed!

As I walked up, Dion spotted me, “Faye, I knew you wouldn’t be able to stay away from my delicious cock-tails,” he said grinning and wiggling his eyebrows. I blushed.

Dion was slapped on the arm by the beautiful blonde, “Behave, you’re such a flirt!” she said grinning.

“Hi Dion,” I replied with a wave. “Hey Cai.” I said as I stood next to him.

“Faye, this is Rae, she’s been dying to meet the girl who found Marcus,” Cai said and stepped back as Rae came forward and gave me a huge hug

“Thank you so much,” she said into the side of my head. “Luc and I have been searching for Cassi and Marcus for so long, Cassi is my sister, so what you’ve done has made me your friend for life,” she pulled back and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was gobsmacked!

“Really, I haven’t done anything, but I’m glad you found Marcus,” I smiled up at her as she smiled back, looking at me intently.
